Separation anxiety and other anxiety disorders

Whether you’re a guardian at the end of your rope or a trainer needing guidance, we are here to help you, no matter where you are located.

What is separation anxiety?

Separation Anxiety is an umbrella term used to describe a variety of alone-time challenges in dogs. Guardians suffering from this panic disorder report that:

  • Their neighbours are starting to complain about the incessant barking the whole time their dog is left alone.
  • They return from absences to find their homes destroyed, particularly around exit points.
  • Their dogs won’t eat (even their favorite treats) when left alone.
  • Their dogs are having potty accidents, but only when left alone.

What is a behavioral consultation?

Behaviour consultations are appropriate for dogs who are upset. Together, we work to change the way they feel. Challenges you may encounter:
  • Fear/anxiety toward strangers/visitors
  • Fear of thunderstorms and other noises
  • Complex behaviour issues
  • Fear of new situations

How can we help you?

We offer a variety of programs to help you achieve your behaviour and training goals. Together, we will take your dog from afraid to brave!

For keepers

Loving a dog with fear and/or anxiety is hard. You may have romanticized about all the wonderful things that you would do with your dog that just aren’t possible. Or, if you’re dealing with separation anxiety, simple things like having a night out are out of reach.

Together, we will get clear on your goals and implement a systematic, step-by-step plan that will get you there. The Learned Dog team will be your expert guide and biggest cheerleader as we coach you through the plan.

For Trainers

Are you working on a case that you can’t seem to resolve? Is your client stuck on a plateau or regressing back?

Sometimes it takes an outside eye or a new approach to identify and resolve challenges that stand in your way. At The Learned Dog, we help you understand how to strengthen your training methods and work with you to create customized training plans to give you the most efficient path to resolving behaviour problems and teaching new skills.

Gradually, we help your anxious dog to feel safe and secure.
