Fear and Phobia

If your dog is petrified at the thought of coming out from under the bed or if he disappears every time you have guests over or at new sights or new sounds, we are here to help.

Fear is the instinctual feeling of apprehension resulting from a situation, person, or object presenting an external threat — whether real or perceived. And the persistent and excessive fear of something specific is a phobia.

At The Learned Dog, we will work at changing your dog’s negative emotion into a happy one. We will aim to teach him that whatever he fears is not only safe but can also be good. We use desensitization and counter-conditioning to do so, making sure that we move through the training at his own pace. For fear and phobia, even more so, we want your dog to feel safe.

Also under Fear are body handling and food/resource guarding.
